this is Raheman from Gulbarga, Karnataka. i want to do b'tech but i completed only ITI but u suggest other persons some courses it's equal to diploma and b'tech so how should i do that courses and what is the duration of that course so please send me full details on my mail id

You can’t join B.Tech course directly after completing ITI.
First of all, you have to pursue diploma course in the concerned subject. The candidate can join directly to the second year of the diploma course. The admission is carried out on the basis of the score of Diploma Entrance test or qualifying ITI exam.

Once the candidate has completed their diploma course, they can join B.Tech course. Diploma holders can get in to the second year of the engineering degree through lateral entry scheme. You should score well in the lateral entry entrance test to secure admission in good institutes.

There is no procedure to do B.Tech right after completing ITI. This is not possible. What you would need to do is diploma in Engineering. Only after that course you can apply for lateral entry into the Bachelor of Technology course.

The ITI candidates are eligible for diploma course. The duration of diploma course is 3 years however ITI candidates can take direct admission into the second year. But please ensure that you choose diploma course related to your ITI stream. Otherwise you will be finding it very hard to actually study the course.


Eligibility

1. Must have completed ITI course from a recognized Industrial Training Institute.

2. Minimum of 33 percent marks in ITI.

3. The age limit to apply for diploma is 23 years.

You can take admission in private or government polytechnic university for diploma. The course fee in government polytechnic would be less in comparison to private.

Upon clearing the diploma course you can apply for Bachelor of Technology course. Once again you would be eligible for lateral entry. This means that you would be able to take admission in second year of B.Tech.

Again I would recommend you to choose B.Tech stream related to your diploma course. Please remember that you won't be able to appear for AIEEE or other engineering entrance exams. Instead you will have to appear for the Lateral Entry Engineering Test which is conducted for the lateral entry admission.

You should score at least 50 percent marks in diploma for lateral entry. Most colleges accept students through lateral entry which exception of IITs and NITs.
