Re: How to get admission in IIT after studying in diploma mechanical?
Firstly I should point out that after completing diploma you will become eligible for the lateral entry. In lateral entry you are not required to do first year of B.Tech and instead take admission directly in the second year.
The lateral entry is offered by almost all the colleges but not by Indian Institutes of Technology. Therefore if you decided to go with Indian Institutes of Technology, it would mean that you will have to complete the entire 4 years course. If you have no problem then the way ahead would be to appear for the entrance exam. IIT-JEE is not the entrance exam. It used to be conducted till last year but not anymore. The IIT-JEE has been replaced by Joint Entrance Exam. The Joint Entrance Exam is done for admission in B.Tech. It has not just replaced IIT-JEE but AIEEE as well. The Joint Entrance Exam has been divided into two stages. JEE Mains JEE Advanced The JEE Mains is the replacement of AIEEE and it is mandatory to be cleared. While there is no such rule to appear for JEE Advanced. This second stage is only for admission in Indian Institutes of Technology, therefore only who inspires to take admission in IIT should appear for second stage. JEE Eligibility 1. You should have cleared 12th standard. 2. Subjects should be Physics, Chemistry and Maths. 3. Diploma holders are also eligible for JEE. 4. There is no criteria for marks. 5. Your age should be less than 25 years. 6. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST. 7. You will first have to clear JEE Mains. 8. Only the top 150,000 will go forward to appear for JEE Advanced. |

Re: How to get admission in IIT after studying in diploma mechanical?
You are not elligible for a direct entry into IIT.
Lateral entry is offered by many college which gives you a chance to get into 2nd year engineering directly. However if you really want to get into an IIT then you can give the JEE exam for diploma students. |

Re: How to get admission in IIT after studying in diploma mechanical?
It is sorry to say that you cannot go for the IIT colleges with your diploma course. For the admission in various IITs one must have to prepare for the entrance exam known as Jee Mains and JEE advanced .
If you clear both the exam and on the basis of your result as well as ranking you can get the admission in IIT.But since you have completed your diploma course so you are not eligible for these entrance exam. Because the basic eligibility criteria for these exam is to have successfully passed out + 2 course form a recognised board with PCM background. |

Re: How to get admission in IIT after studying in diploma mechanical?
No, you are not eligible to get admission in IIT after completion of diploma engineering.
IIT organise and conducted JEE entrance exam in march-april after 12th exam. Eligibility for JEE exam: 1.Candidate must passed the 12+2 exam. 2.Candidate must have passed with PCM. 3.Candidate must be born after 1990 4.The number of attempts a candidate can appear for JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03. Since the diploma is not equivalent to 12+2. You will not eligible for JEE, so you can not get admission in IIT. |

Re: How to get admission in IIT after studying in diploma mechanical?
-> No, diploma students are not eligible to get admission in IITs.
* The only way is that one should complete their 2 with aggregate percentage in PCM stream and then appear in JEE-mains after qualifying in that you need to appear in JEE-advanced if you cracked this too then you can do your engineering in IIT. -> IITs are not allowing lateral entries . |
