It is possible to join B.Tech course after completing B.Sc through the lateral entry scheme which is offered by most of the Engineering collges in India. The lateral entry is only given to candidates who have either completed diploma in Engineering or B.Sc course.

After completing any of these 2 courses you can apply for admission in B.Tech through lateral entry scheme. What it means is that you would be given admission in the second year of the Engineering course of your choice which you can select depending on the subject in which you completed B.Sc.

The entire idea behind lateral entry was to give B.Sc candidates a chance to have better future since the demand of B.Sc graduates in the country is decreasing by the day.

There are basically 2 ways to get lateral entry admission in B.Tech university. The first way is direct entry which is given on the basis of your performance in B.Sc. If you have scored around 60 percent in B.Sc then It would be very easy to get direct entry. Second way is by appearing in lateral entry scheme entrance exam called LEET.

Most universities reserve some Engineering seats for the lateral entry. It is usually around 10 percent of total seats, however this number varies from university to university. What you should also remember is that some colleges have entrance exam of their own for the lateral entry which you would be required to clear before getting the admission.

Eligibility Criteria:

You must have Bachelor's degree in Science from a recognised college with at least 60 percent marks. However there are colleges which would even give you admission with 50 percent marks but I would still recommend that you try to score at least 60 percent marks.

For B.Sc candidates to get lateral entry will have to follow the patter of 10+2+3 which means B.Sc course after 12th.

It is important to have Mathematics as one of the subjects in B.Sc course for lateral entry. However when applying for B.Tech in Biotech, B.Sc with Medical would be required.

Yes you can surely join B.Tech course after B.Sc. It is your good decision to choose B.Tech after B.Sc . For this you have to appear in LEET (Lateral Entry Engineering Test). LEET is a entrance test conducted in different states for the admission of diploma holders in engineering and B.Sc Graduates in the second year of B.Tech.

You are eligible to take admission through lateral entry scheme according to which all engineering diploma holders and B.Sc degree holders are eligible to take admission in second year of B.Tech directly. They don't need to study first year of B.Tech.

ELIGIBILITY FOR LEET-

1- You must have completed your diploma course with minimum 60% marks .
2- You don't have any backlog in any semster.

OR

1- You must have completed your graduation in science stream like B.Sc with minimum 55% marks.

1. As you know the minimum eligibility for b.tech is 12th or diploma in engineering
2. You must appear for entrance exam
3. Age limit is 17 - 25 years

You can do M.tech after m.sc also
for that you must pass in gate exam

Sir i am from commerce streame and now i am pursuing bsc IT first year and i want to do b.tech in IT field so can i do that
And in commerce field i had taken IT and maths so i a eligible to do b.tech through LEET entrance exam
pls sir give me advice and if i can't do b.tech cource so ishould i go with MCA
And please also mention that MCA is better than B.TECH IT

i have done b.tech and want to do btech again... as i got less marks just 50%.. can i do btech again..as i m interested.. n in which year i will get admission if i do btech again

You can do B.Tech after completing B.Sc
You must be in the age of 17 - 25 years
You can join 2nd year B.Tech directly
You can appear for the entrance exams like EAMCET, MH - CET, KCET, NATA, AIEEE, SRM university entrance exam etc to take admission in B.Tech
You must also have done 11th and 12th maths, physics and chemistry course only other wise diploma in engineering

Sir I got my graduation degree in electronic science hons. from university of calcutta this year. Now I want to join jadavpur university for a 3 years btech degree in electronics and instrumentation engineering. I just want to know that should I go for the engineering or a msc degree in electronic science?

You can either opt to go for a college that will take you from the first year through their entrance exam or through your 12th standard marks i.e any college apart form IITs,BITS etc.
Or else you can try for the lateral entry scheme which is the option given by almost all colleges apart from the ones mentioned above for diploma students manly.
Very few colleges actually opt to give admission to a B.Sc graduate on the same premise.
But still there are some that will accept your application if your grades are good enough.
Thus you are eligible but the road ahead is tough.
