Intro
Full form of IAS is Indian Administrative Service, This is an Indian Civil Service, Like wise IAS we have other civil services like IPS, IFS, IRS, ISS, etc.,
for all these services we have a common entrance exam.

i.e., Civil Service Exam. This entrance exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year.

Eligibility :

Eligibility of persons is determined by the following points. If you're the candidate.
->you must be an Indian
->you must have a degree certificate from a recognized Indian University.
->you should complete 21 years of age & should not exceed 30 years(if general candidate)

Only the persons satisfying above three conditions should apply for the entrance exam.

If not ,
you have to attain the eligibility criterion.
and then appear in the Civil Service Exam.

IAS is a Indian police Service.

Definitely..You can apply for IAS{Indian Administration Service} after Graduation.


To join IAS, you will have to appear in Civil service exam conducted by UPSC(Union Public service Commission), India once in a year.

1. Graduate degree from a recognized university or equivalent

2 Age- For IAS The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of appearing of this exam.
Also there is Age Relaxation For Reservation category Candidates :-

PH candidates :- 10 years
SC/ST candidates :- 5 years

Hey friend,

To join in as a IAS officer you need to write the entrance for it and it is the IAS exam which is conducted for candidate to join in as a IAS officer.

This exam is being carried out by UPSC and is held ever year.

For writing this exam you need to satisfy the framed criteria for the exam and the candidates are selected through 3 stages:

-> Preliminary Exam

-> Main Exam

-> Interview

As told that you are a Graduate you are eligible for the exam as per the education qualification needed for the exam as you are satisfying the needed qualification.

As the education qualification needed for the IAS exam states that the candidate should have completed a degree from a recognized university with a fair percentage and it can be done in any discipline.

There are certain other criteria's which are needed to be satisfied and they are

• The candidate should be a citizen of India
  
• The candidate should have a age limit of 21-30 years of age

Well if you have completed graduation then the only thing left to do is register for the Civil Services Examination. You can only apply for the Indian Administrative Service after clearing the Civil Services Examination.

I am afraid it wont be possible to apply for the Civil Services Examination in 2013. The registration process is over and already preliminary exam has also be concluded. Now you should wait till the next year.

It would only be in 2014 when the registration process will start again. Till that time you should keep the focus on preparing for the exam. You need at least 8 months to fully prepare for the Civil Services Examination.

Now if you haven't already started the preparation please do so as soon as possible. You can begin with studying 12th standard books especially by NCERT.

1. You should be Indian citizen.

2. Must have a graduation degree to apply.

3. Passing marks in graduation would be sufficient enough to apply.
