IPS i.e. Indian Police Services. To join IPS, One have to appear in recruitment exam of IPS known as Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC-Union Public Service Commission of India once in a year.

There are two exam conducted for IPS-

1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam


How many attempts are allowed for IPS entrance exam:

Number of Permissible Attempts are as follow-

4- Attempts for General Category Candidates

7- Attempts of OBC/Physically Handicapped Candidates

->No Limit for SC / ST Category Candidates




You have to fulfill following criteria for IPS Exam:
-You must have completed Graduation course in any stream from recognized Institute/University.

-The final year degree students are also applying for the examination

-Your Age must be between 21 to 30years(for BC 21 to 33years & for Sc/st 21 to 35years)

-You must be an Indian Citizen.

The IPS stands for Indian Police Services..you have to join in IPS first you crack the IPS entrance Exam which is called Civil Services Exam.This Exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Services Commision) once in a year.

The Civil Services Exam is Two types,

-> Preliminary Exam
-> Mains Exam

The minimum qualification is graduation from a recognized university.


Number of Attempts Restriction for appearing in Civil Services (i.e. IAS/IPS) Exam:

*4- Attempts for General Category Candidates
*7- Attempts of OBC/Physically Handicapped Candidates

Age Limit for all above Exams: Minimum 21 Yrs and Maximum 30 Yrs

Age Relaxations:-

SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen = Maximum 5 yrs

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.
Also you must be citizen of India.

Im 24 year old and I want to do post graduation which will complete wen I'll get 26 year old . Am I be able to attend all 4 attempts of upsc .
