ICWA course is divided into three stages of Foundation Stage after class 12, Intermediate Stage after B.com, BBM. Only after clearing the foundation course, candidates can seek admission in the intermediate stage. In the final stage, as a Cost Accountant, candidates start the practice by obtaining a licence from the Institute. The duration of various courses are as follow:
Foundation Program- 6 months
Intermediate Program- 12 months
Management Training- 36 months
Final Course- 12 months
Courses in ICWAI or Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) train students in maintenance of accounts, preparation of Income Tax Return, Service Tax Return, Filling of Return under Companies Act, Filling of Returns under Income Tax, VAT, Service Tax, Central Excise Custom Act, Export & Import documentation.

Paper 1: Fundamentals of Economics and Management
Paper 2: Fundamentals of Accounting
Paper 3: Fundamentals of Laws and Ethics
Paper 4: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics & Statistic
Intermediate Course(Part I) -Six months
Paper 5: Financial Accounting
Paper 6: Laws, Ethics and Governance
Paper 7: Direct Taxation
Paper 8: Cost Accounting and Financial Management
Intermediate Course(Part II) -Six months
Paper 9: Operation Management & Information System
Paper 10: Cost and Management Accountancy
Paper 11: Indirect Taxation
Paper 12: Company Accounts and Audit
Final Course(Part III) – Six months
Paper 13: Corporate Laws and Compliance
Paper 14: Advanced Financial Management
Paper 15: Business Strategy & Strategic Cost Management
Paper 16: Tax Management and Practice
Final Course (Part IV) -Six months
Paper 17: Strategic Performance Management
Paper 18: Corporate Financial Reporting
Paper 19: Cost and Management Audit
