How may I get details about EIE branch? What's the future prospective? I'm B.Tech 1st year student
I'm B.Tech 1st year student of EIE branch.I don't have complete idea about this branch.
I've many doubts like the following: 1). Is this easy to pursue? 2). does it have good job opportunities? 3). does this suit girls? 4). is higher education possible with this particular branch?if so is CAT better or GATE better? 5). what type of jobs are available?which companies take up such jobs? 6). what be the range of salary? 7). what exactly is EIE meant for? please answer with patience and help me get out of these confusions.also if you have any more information please do post here. |

Re: How may I get details about EIE branch? What's the future prospective? I'm B.Tech 1st year student
The answers are provided following serial order:
1.It's easy if you are interested in it 2.It's a rare branch, hence has a great demand 3.Yes there is not much practical handling like mechanical,so definetely girls can opt for it. 4.Yes,higher education is possible but, instrumentation is not a common course for graduate studies, there are only limited seats. The GATE score and not the rank is the sole criterion, apart from test and interview in certain cases for selection. So even if you have got a rank of less than 100 it doesn't guarantee you a seat. A score in excess of 600 is needed for getting popular courses in IIT's. This year only around 4300 students took the exam where as it was 5300 last year. This doesn't mean that the competition has become easier as the score depends on the number of persons taking the exam as well. In 2006 the first ranker got a score of 1000. This year its less than 900.IISc, Bangalore and IIT Kharagpur offer specialized courses in Instrumentation. Control System courses are offered in all IITs except IIT Guwahati. Those interested in Microelectronics can take up courses at IISc and IIT Bombay. Now I will expalin the admission process at each IITs and IISc. Coming to CAT or GATE? depends on ur interest on ur branch relatively,CAT has a very stiff competition from students of all fields of education. 5.Core opportunities are available.BHEL and other such companies provide jobs. 6.Depends on the marks achieved and company approaching for placement. On an average a package of 4.8lakhs p/a can be expected. 7.The main objective of the instrumentation and control engineers is to ensure that these systems and process operates efficiently and safely. All the best !!!!! |

HI, friend 1) its easy to persue if you develop good knowledge in core subjects like electrical machines, control subjects, PLC et. 2) it is having very good opportunities in industry. 3) suitable. 4) Btech is enough for tting a good job or if you are interested u can go for mtech but not mba. 5) important thing is you should do PLC(programmable logic control) its a special course both for both EIE and EEE students. after completion of btech do this for getting good jobs in power plants and many instrumentation companies. cost is around 30k duration 6months.. 6) slary depends on companies minimum 15k for a fresher in power plants. 7) electronics and instrumentation engineeeering. EIE is very similar to ECE. The difference comes in ‘C’ and ‘I’, i.e. communication and instrumentation.IT requires a very good knowledge in Physics and Mathematics.
Major Subjects: Electronic devices and circuits Pulse and digital circuits Sensors and Signal conditioning Calibration and Electronic measurements Microprocessors Power plant instrumentatio. Job Opportunities: Apart from software jobs, electronics and instrumentation mainly deals with power plants. Indian companies: NTPC, BHEL, Jaypee Associates, GAIL, APGENCO Mangalore Petroleum limited, EIL (Engineers India Limited). |
