i want to give gate test with self study.
Sir please give me some tips to prepare it.

we all know gate which is graduate apptidude test in engg.,after completing graduation for master degree.

GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST IN ENGG. (GATE)

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All-India Examination conducted by the seven Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE , Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Government of India.

OBJECTIVES OF GATE

Identity at the National level, meritorious and motivated candidates for admission to Postgraduate Programmes in Engineering Technology , Architecture, Science and Pharmacy.
Serve as mandatory qualification for the MHRD scholarship/assistantship.

Serve as benchmark of normalization of the Undergraduate Engineering Education in the country.


this exam is based upon what you had done in your graduation study time, simply it depend upon your self study or you had opt. coaching classes.

1. Material Collection

•Syllabus
•All the relevant books based on the subject(Divide the books in two groups
(1) Fundamental and basic concepts

(2) Problem oriented

•Some books helpful for pre-requisite knowledge on the subject
•Some good guide books for GATE
•Previous questions papers
2. Keep contact with some expert and GATE experienced persons

3. Study - Syllabus and Previous questions papers

4. Start from the first chapter

•read at least 5 books, it will widen your knowledge(if necessary consult with the books for pre-requisite knowledge or with some expert)
•Note down the probable concepts (definitions, unit, dimension etc.)
•Note down necessary theories, formulae etc.
•Solve problems as maximum as possible(from text books, Guide books etc)
•Think about various tricks in solving problems(if necessary, note it)
•Go for series of self-tests based on this chapter(take other's help to conduct tests)
•Continue the self-tests until getting a very good score
5. Solve more and more problems, discover more and more new tricks

6. Follow the same procedure for the rest chapters

7. Finally, go for self-tests based on whole syllabus (take other's help to conduct these tests)





Preparation Strategy:

•Starting 8 – 12 months before GATE exam: Do more of theory in the first few months and just a few practice questions. Make your notes as you learn and your concepts should really be strong. In months 3 and 4 focus on answering GATE type questions. Mark your areas of weaknesses and strengths. In months 5 and 6 work on your weaknesses. Finally in months 7 onwards, start answering more GATE like papers and hone your skills.
•Starting 4 – 8 months before GATE exam: In the first 2 months, do a combination of theory and practice questions. Focus month 3 on taking tests. The remaining months should be spent on taking tests and refining your strengths and weaknesses.
•Starting 2 – 4 months before GATE exam: Only focus on the theory of important topics and practice as many questions as possible in the first month. The remaining time should be spent on building on these strengths and taking 2-3 new topics every week from the other untouched areas.
•Starting less than 2 months before GATE exam: Your focus has to be on solving GATE type questions accurately. Whenever you are unable to solve the questions, refer to the relevant theory and make notes.

Here i am providing you some of the guidelines to prepare for the GATE exam.

-Make a time table of yourself of what subjects to study, when to study, how much time to study.

-Give priority to several subjects. Try to complete the various subjects which you feel difficult early and the subjects which you feel easy, finish them later.

-Go through previous year exam papers. There is every chance that the same questions are going to be repeated this year or in the same model, we may expect the questions.

-Purchase GATE questions and answers book from market. And soon after the completion of a particular topic or unit, practice several questions relating that unit from GATE questions and answers books so that you come to know the pattern that the questions are being asked.

-Focus on fundamentals which are very vital to GATE exam.

-Don't continue your study by system or soft copy mode. Because there is every chance that you may divert your mind to some entertainment activities like music.

-Select peaceful place and carry out your studies.

-Take a little break for every 1 hour

if you follow just some way for study then easily you can crack GATE(Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering) examination. but if you want to really good score in GATE examination then i think you should take admission in any good coaching institution.


to be prepare for GATE examination first of all collect the syllabus of GATE examination for which paper you are appearing in the examination.

now you should find out for which portion you have good knowledge. that means at the time of your semester study which portion you have completed attentively.


try to cover that portion of the syllabus for which previously you have knowledge.

next give attention to the mathematics portion. there is approximately 25 marks in GATE examination from mathematics. if you can get 15 to 20 marks from this portion then easily you can clear the cut off. math portion is also easy comparable to technical portion. so try to practice mathematics according to the syllabus of GATE.


next give attention to the aptitude part which contains 15marks. this portion is also easy. try to get at least 10 marks from this portion. but some good book for aptitude and practice them.


then give attention to the remaining portion of the technical syllabus. always first try to study the syllabus from text book and after covering whole syllabus from text book practice question from GATE books.



at the time of examination only answer those questions for which you are sure. without being sure don't give answer of any question because there is negative marks.


buy some good books for GATE preparation like GATE by G K Publishers or GATE by Konodia etc.

if you follow these steps then i think you will crack GATE examination easily with good GATE score.


but if you want to more well then try to join in any leading coaching institution like gateforum or brilliant or others. they will suggest you good study material and mock test taken by them is very much helpful for preparation of GATE examination.

you can do prepration yourself by getting the related book of your branch which consist some sample papers also. get syllabus and study material from gate website. take extra material from wikipedia.

Just be perfect in all the subjects which you have studied before.learn the basics of all the subjects so that you can answer any question based on that basic knowledge.Try to cover the subjects which you are not interested and later within a short span you can complete the remaining subjects.After this go for the model question papers which may help you further.All the besthttp://entrance-exam.net/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

the best way to do self preparation is that you should know what your are studying.

you should know each concept throughly and should also remember them and should know
how to implement it.in coaching institute that what they teach students and hence they

Learn all objectives, formulas, cover all technical subjects, there are GATE books available. Collect previous year question paper ans solve them.

GATE is very exam for B.tech students. They can prepare the exam by self study also.

The questions asked are about what you have studied in your graduation.

well GATE is a national level exam and it needs a lot of effort...so i suggest you to have your basics in each and every subject strong.......then you need to solve as many problems you can ........you should also go on solving previous year question papers........and give your 100% and definitely you will be able to crack your GATE exam by self study..........

For self preparation you need 1st chuck you time plan and set your routine for each subject .
And collect ACE and GATE FORUM material if possible and go through them .

First of all you should keep a copy of syllabus od GATE exam of your subject

Then buy last year papers for GATE Preparation

You will get an idea of the type of MCQs asked in the papers

Then start preparing subject wise

Imporatant subjects should be done carefully and completely and topics which are not much asked can be lefted out to avoid burden

Here three lines(GATE,IES and IAS) have different value on money,make field and hands power,such as:

1.If you want to earn huse mony then go at M.TECH , because a M.TECH may earn more than 1 lacks per month ,if hve quqlity at work area.

2.If you want to daliver a great tecnologies to your country and be known by name at in and out of country than go to IES.

I have a very little query the pattern of college exam is different from GATE exam.the type of questions in regular exams are completely theoretical we have to prepare according to that.so sir what is key guide to know and prepare the type of questions asked in GATE?
