Lateral Entry Scheme is meant for admission into 2nd year/Third semester of B.tech and NIT's does not have lateral entry Scheme till date. However, request is already made to do so, but it was rejected by Authorities.

For getting into any of the NIT's you have to crack AIEEE with good AIR at least within 23,000 AIR. Then after that you will be provided admission to 1st year of B.tech at NIT.

If you had appeared for AIEEE 2010 the wait for result to be announced,if you score well then, will get admission to NIT.

But if you does'nt appered for AIEEE then you have to for it next time, you can appear for it thrice ina consecutive years.

Best fo Luck

Please not there is no lateral entry in NIT's and i also don't agree with faiyaz saying that you get direct 2 year admission. Its not true.

In NITs you will get admission to 1st year no second year and its applicable to all the diploma holders too!

But diploma holders can apply for other colleges like Manipal,Thapar which have their entrance exams to admit student through lateral entry.

The procedure to get into NIT hamirpur will be the same. I mean you will have to answer AIEEE and get into top 20,000 to get a decent branch and you will be admitted to 1st year not 2nd year.

Cheers

the nits doesnt have anything like lateral entry...
the only way to get admission to any of the nit is through aieee eam
the eligibility for aieee is available at the official site i.e on www.aieee.ac.in

sorry friend there are no any provision to take admission in NIT directly in 3rd sem.
But you can appear AIEEE as a lateral entry student, & if there are any seat vacant in NIT then you have a chance to take admission in 3rd sem.
But you can try in different state university engineering colleges which take admission on the basis of exam & direct admission in 3rd sem for diploma student.
good luck.
