Students with a diploma degree in Civil engineering can join Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in the lateral entry scheme. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology was established in 1997. The university is located at Khudra, Bhubaneswar of Orissa. This is an AICTE approved institute and holds 16th rank among the national level engineering colleges and 5th rank among the private engineering colleges of the country. Candidates with a diploma in civil engineering from any recognized university are eligible for admission through lateral entry scheme in Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology. The diploma course should be completed within the span of 3 years. Students who are doing final year in diploma can also apply for the course. Candidates who have completed graduation in Science with Mathematics as one of the subjects are also eligible for the admission. Such Degree holders are free to join any stream in engineering.

Every year a fixed percentage of total seats are reserved for lateral entry candidates. Apart of these candidates who belong to the backward communities of the society like SC/ST, OBC, etc. are also given a reservation in Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology.

Applying for B.Tech Civil Engineering Lateral Entry in Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

The applications forms are available in the official website of the university. Candidates can directly download the form. There will be an entrance exam to select the eligible candidates. Candidates who clear the test get admitted for the course. The test will include questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of 10+2 level. The test will be a 2 hour test.

Advantages for Lateral Entry Students in B.Tech Civil Engineering

The biggest advantage of lateral entry students is that, they need not attend the first two semesters of the B.Tech course, as the lateral entry students will be familiar with the basics of the course. The students can save a year as they are directly joining the course in the second year. The lab sessions will be easier for them than the regular students as they have already studied them in their diploma course.
