There are many law colleges that offers distance education course, as mentioned in this thread by various experts. But unfortunately none of the degrees is accepted by the Bar Council of India.

You may decide to go with distance education or correspondence law course, but that will not make you eligible to become lawyer or apply for other Law related jobs.

The Bar Council of India does not recognize correspondence/distance education courses for LLB degree. It does that for LLM but not for the LLB. Which is why the distance education degree offered by some colleges is not LLB but some other law course.

This essentially means that all these courses are not valid. Without the valid LLB degree you can not practice in court as lawyer.

Bar Council of India has made it very clear that it will only recognize regular mode LLB degree. You will have to attend college regularly and have minimum of 80 percent attendence to be eligible for final year examination.

Bar Council is very serious about implementing this 80 percent attendence rule. Which is why I will recommend that you should go for LLB through regular mode. If you are doing job then consider options like evening colleges or perhaps you can take educational leave, if doing government job.

If you decides to go for LLB through regular then you will have several good options. You can apply for admission in Delhi University, Government Law College, Mumbai and Banaras Hindu University among others.


LLB Eligibility

1. The person should have graduated.

2. With no less than 45 percent marks.

3. In some colleges you will require 50 percent marks.

4. There is 5% relaxation in marks criteria for SC/ST.

5. In Delhi University, there is no marks criteria for SC/ST.

6. Upper age limit is 30 years.

7. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST.

Hi,

Law courses can be done by regular mode and by distance mode also.

But it is wise if you do it through regular mode as BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA does not approve correspondence degrees.
