First thing I would like to let you know that for appearing in NET/SET one is required to have completed your post graduation with 55% marks in a subjects from a recognized university. Marks relaxation of 5% is available for reserved category candidates.

As far as you are concerned about the compulsion of post graduation degree course in regular mode for appearing in NET/SET then it is not essential as any degree in regular or distance ( open ) mode from a recognized university approved by UGC is accepted.

For details regarding NET ( National Eligibility Test ) you can refer to the link www.cbsenet.nic.in .

The examination is conducted by CBSE under the guidance of UGC.

First thing I would like to let you know that NET ( National Eligibility Test )/ SET ( State Eligibility Test ) are held by their respective concerned bodies for recruitment of assistant professor in the colleges managed by concerned Central or State government.

The minimum educational qualification required for appearing in NET/SET examination is a master's degree in any one of the 84 subjects ( list are available on official link of concerned examination ) with at least 55% marks from a recognized university. Students pursuing final year of their Master's degree are also eligible.

One thing I would like to clarify you that the term recognized university in the above mentioned eligibility criteria refers to any regular or open university which is approved by UGC and hence it is not mandatory to pursue post graduation ( i.e; Master's degree ) in regular mode for appearing in NET/SET.

For more FAQs related to NET you can visit its official website which is www.cbsenet.nic.in where as for details regarding different SETs you can refer to their respective official websites.

No, it is not mandatory to pursue post graduation degree in regular mode to apply for National Eligibility Test/State Eligibility. You can apply for this exam after pursuing Master's degree in distance mode but the college or university should be approved by University Grants Commission and Distance Education Council.

The minimum qualification required for National Eligibility Test is master's degree from a recognized university. Final year post graduation candidates can also apply for the exam. You need to have minimum of 55% marks in master's degree to apply for the exam.
