Is MCA better than B.Tech?
You Can Not Compare Both These Courses. Because One is Master degree Course And Another Is Bachelor Degree Course. Both these Course Have its Own Importance. So, If You Are interested in Computer field, Then MCA is the Best Optionb for You. But, If you are Interested to Make your Career Bright in Engineering field, Than B.tech is the Best Option for You. But ytou can not Compare Both the course, Because MCA is the Master Degree course And B.tech is the Bachelor degree Course. So, Please choose that Course in Which You have a great interest. So, that you can not have any problem while you are Doing That Course. But As Compare to Get Good Jobs With Great Salary Pacakage, then I will Suggest You MCA is Best Option, Because After comleting this Course, You will get jobs in Top IT companies Like Wipro, HCL, Infosys, DELL, And Manny more Companies. So, if You have already Completed your Bachelor degree, than I will Suggest You Just go For MCA Rather Than B.tech. Because if you have completed your bachelor Degree And then If you have do B.tech, Then You Have Waste Your One year. So, Its better if you can choose MCA Rather than B.tech. So, i Think its totally depends on your Interest. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
hi,
I am B.Tech student i thought that B.Tech is better than MCA.i chose B.Tech over MCH because MCH is master degree course and B.Tech is bachlor degree course. If you are intrested in master degree course then join MCH and if you are intrested in bachlor degree course then join B.Tech. In MCH you study only of computer related no other knowledge given in MCH.in B.Tech you study computer with other knowledge sa electronics, electrical and mechnical. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
BE/BTech and MCA are not same course only one can compare BE/Btech in CS/IT and MCA because these are same fields.
In current time both are same those who miss the opportunity to take admission for Btech after 12th then they went for MCA after graduation. MCA strach your time in studies but provide master degree. while in BTech time is less but dont have master degree. Job opportunity is same, because take part in same campus, same post will be given to them, same salary is given to them. If you look wider look of Btech then there are number of branch in BTech like EC, EE, EEE, CS, IT, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Automobile, Textile, fire, Aeronutical, IP, IC etc.. One the other hand MCA offer only one stream. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
You can not compare MCA & B.Tech as both of them are two different courses.
B.Tech is an U.G. i.e under graduate course whereas MCA is a P.G i.e Post graduate course. For MCA you need to have a degree whereas for B.Tech you should have completed 10+2. If you have interest in computers field the MCA is best option you can opt for as there you will learn to make softwares, applications like games, desktop applcations ,website, etc. B.Tech is also a very good filed to go for. For both of them you will be required to clear entrance exam conducted by the university for respective courses. Also for completing B.Tech 4 years will be required whereas in case of MCA first you will need to complete your Graduation & after that you will be required to do MCA for 3 years. Both of them are interesting & are in very high demand........ |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
MCA and B.tech both have their own importance, the thing is:
1. what is your educational background 2. and what your interest is. MCA is a masters degree and job opportunities are much better nowadays for MCA aspirants. B.tech is a bachelor degree and the jobs which you'll get after completion of it are mostly technical. Choose what u want to, be both degrees have their own benefits. Basic difference is MCA is a masters degree and b.tech is a bachelors degree. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
comparing the two degrees is not a good idea.
First of all to do MCA you need to have a bachelors degree in hand while for B.Tech you should be 12th pass or appearing. Now which is better depends on which place you are going to do the degrees from ... If you get in A GOOD COLLEGE for B.Tech you do not need to think about MCA from anywhere as it is best for you. IIT's NIT's BIT's BIT' meshra etc.are good places for B.tech. if you don't get a good college you can try for MCA from some good college as MCA entrance is easy compared to B.Tech. but generally speaking you can say that B.tech CSE is better as you get placements in lots of colleges ...also you have better options for you masters ... with MCA you don't have so many good options and also its a masters degree, that another thing as you wont be able to study much further as phd is only otion. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
MCA-masters degree
Btech-bachelor degree MCA-is done after bachelor degree(means 10,10 2,graduation & then MCA) Btech-direct after 12 MCA-1 stream(computers) Btech-various streams MCA-passout student age(approx 24 yr-without drop) Btech-passout student age(approx 22 yr-without drop) both have overall same course fee. same salary package. same eligibility criteria. so better to earn earlier at the age of 22. bt if u miss d opportunity of getting admission in BTech(CS/IT) then do not worry there is next opportunity waiting for u as a PG degree called MCA.. till then try to prepare for MCA entrance exams & dont forgot to maintain the criteria of 60% in the ur bachelors degree ie. BCA,BSc etc (this is 1 more criteria for max. companies for MCAiians) |

To appear for campus placement for most of the top MNC companies you must have a minimum of 60 % and above.. but some companies demand for 70 % above so its better to have 70 % above in B.Tech to appear for placements...so work hard and prepare well for your placements... All the Best.. |

dear friend,
I think its wrong on your part to compare two degrees. B.TECH is bachelor degree in engineering and technology and MCA is master degree in computers. So go for the degree in which you have more interest. if you have done BCA then you can go for MCA and if you have interest in engineering then go for B.Tech. each has its own importance and each degree has got extremely good opportunities to excel and brighten your future. |

b.tech is far more better through aieee selection. For a score above 108, you get a direct counselling call. You need to clear, to come in the ranking of eligibility for counselling. Rest is a list on the organising aieee body home site. |

Its difficult to conclude which course is better out of B.Tech and MCA.
B.Tech is an under graduate course offered after 12th and it is a of 4 years course whereas MCA is a post graduation course after graduation and this course is of 3 years. Demands of both these course is very high. So opt for that course in which you are interested. All the best.... |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
B.Tech is a graduation course where as MCA is a post graduation course.
Having higher qualification like MCA is always an added advantage. There are number of streams available in B.Tech One can choose the steam which he is more interested. Many candidates if they are career 60 candidates, if they have good communication skills and subject knowledge, many software companies are hiring them. So, B.Tech is having its own importance and job opportunities as like as MCA. Some companies may offer same salaries to the candidates as that of B.Tech candidates. Some other companies may pay higher salaries to the MCA candidates. So, what is important is the designation that a candidate is joining. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
Hi
It totally depends upon your area of interest and your background. 2 courses cannot be compared. You just need to be good at your work. Degree matters only at entry level in the professional word. After that it is totally your hard work and experience. Companies definitely give preference to B.Tesch as it is a professional course as compared to MCA ... But if your interest lies in computers and you are doing BCA and then MCA... any software company would definitely give you more weightage based on your knowledge. Regards Prerna |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
Hello,
I would keep B.Tech at the top because there are enormous opportunities after B.Tech compared to MCA,even though the latter is a PG course. After B.Tech there are opportunities in the IT sector, steel sector, power sector, which is becoming one of the most sought after sectors for the Engineering graduates. But it doesn't mean that MCA does not provide opportunities, there are pretty good opprtunities after MCA too especially in the IT sector. If the B.Tech is from some reputed institute then that would add more colours to anyone's future. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
For Computer application in Post graduation, Master of Computer Application course is best...
B.TECH is a graduation course where as MCA is post graduation course.. comparatively B.TECH is opted by many because after b.tech you are able to grab job easily without doing your post graduation compared in the case of MCA you should complete your graduation and then continue your masters.. b.tech has more opportunities than MCA.. therefore my suggestion is to join in B.TECH than MCA |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
No, thats not true.
MCA is for specialised computer courses whereas Btech is professional course in branches of engineering. MCA is master level course and btech is bachelor degree. And in terms of placement and package, it depends on from where you do procure your degree. If you will do Btech from IIts or NIts , then for sure , you will get avg 5 lakh. Similarly for MCA. |

Re: Is MCA better than B.Tech?
First of all there cannot be a comparison between a bachelors and a masters degree. BTech is bachelors and MCA is masters.
Secondly, like any other Bachelor degree here in BTech also you have got many options of streams to choose from because in graduation you will have more options like IT, CSE, Electrical, Electronics etc but in masters you have specializations, same as you choose a specialization when you do MTech. So MCA is also a specialization in Computer Application i.e. specifically related to software. So it is mostly dependent on the Student what he wants, if a person is interested in software then he should definitely go for MCA else he should not. Moreover there is one very major thing, MCA is the only master degree which is of 3 years duration, so in this case for a master degree also you have to spend 1 more year of your life studying, so if somebody wants to get a job early in their life, then MCA is not for them. One more thing, a BTech has more job options too and he would not be forced to search a job in software field only, but a MCA can only apply for a software job. So you have to be very careful in choosing between BTech and MCA. |

HI,
of course MCA being a master degree it is better than B.Tech. but comparing MCA with M.Tech it is not possible to say which is better. all branches are equally good so we can say one is above other. after finishing MCA you will also be called as a engineer. you have the equal importance as that of a engineers.but if you finish by this way you can save a year |

MCA refers to master of computer application and B.tech refers to the bachelors degree. Both of them differs from each other.you have complete your BCA in order to pursue your MCA,but you can join B.tech as soon as you complete your 12th or diploma.Generally the cost for doing B.tech is Comparatively high when compared doing MCA.You should also understand each degree has its own value and you should choose the thing in which you are interested.

these two MCA and b.tech are different, because MCA is a master degree and the b.tech is the bechlor degree, But the importance is great of the b.tech degree, if you do b.tech and other is done the MCA then you are more eligible for the job opportunities. MCA is done after the BCA gradation and b.tech is done by fighting the entrance exam of the IIT, AIEEE etc. best of luck. |

all my interest passion lies with computers,
programming etc c++ java database management unix/linux all these thing what i have learnt till now B.TECH (cs) 1. btech proffesional degree 2. More market value 3. Every one rushing for it (all my class mate wants to be IIT'IANS). 4. Physic and chemistry will be there (-ive) MCA 1. Better (in-depth)knowledge of computer. 2.equivalent to b.tech. 3. But bca +mca will take 6 years in total. 4. And no physics and chemistry involved math is there and i love math. 5. Post graduate degree. Job and salary do matter but what matter more is my passion ,satisfaction from what i do. What kind of jobs and salary i expect from both after 5 to 10 years. |

Both Btech and MCA are totally different and good courses.Btech is a bachelor degree and its technical whereas MCA is masters degree and it deals with computer applications.
But with company's point of view i would say Btech is better than MCA as Btech students are given same packages and posts as that of MCA students inspite of the fact its a masters degree. But in case you have already completed your graduation then opt for MCA as it will save your time. |

HI
MCA is post graduation course and B. Tech is graduation course. You can't compare both MCA is a specialization course as the name says, Masters in Computer Applications. B.Tech is a graduation in different field such as - Electronics - Electrical - computer science - Civil - Ceramic - Chemical -Mechanical - Mining - Metallurgy - IT You can choose any field of your choice. If you are interested in IT field, its better to choose B.Tech in Computer Science and do the job. MCA people also join on the same post, as b.tech guy joins (mostly) All the best |
