How to join Merchant Navy after Graduation with Commerce student?

Let me tell you the eligibility criteria for the Merchant Navy so that you get an idea that whether you are eligible or not-

1. One should have completed 10+2 or equivalent, having passed Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

2. Also,age should not be more than 20 years (on 1st September of the entry year)
SC/ST- 5 years relaxation

3. Unmarried candidate

So, as you can see the 1st clause.
Since you had taken commerce branch for your intermediate so unfortunately you are not eligible for the Merchant Navy.

No you are not eligible for the Merchant Navy being a graduate candidate. To join the Merchant Navy the examination is conducted by the UPSC as CDS examination.

CDS examination is conducted twice in a year. The eligibility to appear for the examination is candidates must passed graduation. The discipline and age will be on the choice of wings:-

* IAF :- Graduation in Physics, Mathematics or any B.tech stream. Age must lie between 19-22 years.
* Navy :- Graduation in Physics,Mathematics or any B.tech stream and age between 19-23 years.
* IMA :- Graduation in any discipline with age between 19-24 years.
* OTA :- Graduation in any discipline with the age must be between 19-25 can apply.

So being a commerce candidates you can go with IMA or OTA.

You can join merchant navy if you have completed your 10+2 in PCM group.

The eligibility criteria to join Merchant Navy are as under:-

-The candidate should have passed 10+2 class or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board.

-The age limit to apply is 16 years to 25 years.

-Candidates should be physically and Mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms

-Only unmarried male and female candidate can apply for Merchant Navy.

The candidate height should not be less than 150 cm to become eligible for entry in Merchant Navy .

The weight should not be below than 42 kg and the chest should expand upto a minimum range of 5 cm.

The candidate should have vision of 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately and should not suffer from Color Blindness defect.

-The exam is conducted in different stages.These are;

*Written Exam.

*Physical Test

No commerce candidates are not eligible for the Merchant Navy. So you are not eligible for it. But you are eligible for the IMA and OTA being a graduate in commerce discipline.

To join the Defense the examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. The examination is known as CDS and CDS I for the 2015 is ended.

The eligibility or the IMA and OTA are candidates in any discipline of graduation from a recognised university are eligible. Candidates age must be between 19-24 years for the IMA and 19-25 for the OTA.

The examination is conducted in two stages as Written and SSB. It is necessary to qualify in both of them for the final selection. Question in the written examination are from English , Mathematics and General Studies. So to qualify you must have good knowledge of this.

The application for the CDS II will be released on the 18th July and examination will be conducted on the 1st November 2015.

No, you are not eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Those candidates who have passed 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant navy exam.

Your age should be below 20 years.

Physical criteria:-

• Eye Sight = 6/6
• Height = 167 cms
• Weight = 50 Kg
• Chest = 77 cm (Normal) / 82 cm (Expanding)

They are informed to read the notification before applying online.
Applicants need to enclose all thr necessary documents, dd of registered amount, mark sheet to the concerned authority.
