Re: Minimum Height required for a candidate to become an IAS Officer?
hi..
Physical Qualification required to become IAS officer: The service is for Police forces where fitness is a must. So, you should have to possess the ability to do hard works. Height: To be an IAS you need have to have a minimum height of 165 cm for men and 160 cm for women. Some particular races and tribes like Gorkhas and Garhwalis will get 5cm height relaxation, because genetically there average height is lower and they are famous as martial races. Chest: The minimum chest girth for men is 84cm while for women it is 79cm. In both cases it should be expandable to 5cm. General fitness: Your body should be totally fit. If you are a handicap then you are not eligible for the job. If you have some physical deformity then you may be discarded during medical examination. Vision: Corrected vision is allowed, i.e. if you have spectacles though you will be eligible. But myopia is allowed up to -4D and Hypermetropia is up to +4D. Color blindness and lack of binocular vision are not allowed. All the best..

Re: Minimum Height required for a candidate to become an IAS Officer?
I think you are confusing Indian Administrative Service with Indian Police Service. Because its in Indian Police Service that the candidate has to meet certain physical requirements. It is necessary due to the nature of work carried out by the IPS officers.
Such is not the case with Indian Administrative Service. There are no physical requirements. You could be short or tall. Frankly it does not matter. Union Public Service Commission even allows physically disabled candidates to apply for the Indian Administrative Service. Therefore you do not have to worry at all about meeting some physical requirements. There are no for the Indian Administrative Service. So I will suggest you to start preparing for the exam. It would not be possible to appear for IAS exam this year unless you registered for the Civil Services Examination. In such case you will have to wait till next year to apply for the Indian Administrative Service. Registration for the Civil Services Examination is generally done during the first quarter of the year. Which means between January and March. However this is not the rule. IAS Eligibility 1. It is only possible for Indian citizens to apply for IAS. 2. To be considered, you must have completed graduation. 3. Marks scored in graduation do not matter. 4. You should be 21 years old as on August 1 of examination year. 5. Should be less than 30 years on the same date. 6. OBC candidate is eligible to apply till 33 years. 7. While SC/ST can apply till 35 years. 8. There are no physical requirements for Indian Administrative Service. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam This exam is conducted in May/June. There are only 2 written tests that you have to clear with the aim to appear for next stage. It is only a qualifying exam for next stage. Marks scored in preliminary will not be added to your final tally. 2. Main Exam Only the ones who have successfully cleared preliminary are eligible for Main examination. There are 9 papers that are conducted in August/September. These 9 papers include 4 papers on the 2 optional subjects that you are free to choose. 3. Personal Interview |

Re: Minimum Height required for a candidate to become an IAS Officer?
dear aspirant
ias stands for indian administrative services , it's exam is conducted by upsc, i think you are confused between requirements of ias and ips . i would make you clear about it, for ias there is no physical requirements such as chest, weight, or height but for ips there is requirement of height, weight or chest height for male is 165 cm , height for female is 150 cm relaxations for reserved chest for men is 84 cm with 5 cm expansion, weight should proportionate to height and age limit is 21-30 years age relaxation for obc is 3 years age relaxation for sc/st is 5 years good luck |
