Re: MS or MTech in india
In India, MS is available only in certain institutes like IIT Madras. MS is much more popular in other countries like USA. M.Tech is available in a number of engineering institutes across India. IITs offer M.Tech and the admission is through GATE.
GATE scores can be used for M.Tech in a number of other engineering institutes. Other than IITs most engineering institutes like VIT, BITS, IIIT etc offer M.Tech programmes. Many of these institutes have their own entrance exam or use either GATE scores or state university scores for admission in their M.Tech programmes. |

Re: MS or MTech in india
hi...
ms/mtech both are equivalent in terms of recognition.Though MS is a new concept in india which is popular in western nations like US/Canada.MS is presently provided in very few institutions like iit-madras,iisc,bhu,vit,manipal,etc..whereas mtech is pretty common for which you will have to qualify GATE.Scope of mechanical and allied branches is excellent in india. best of luck.go ahead |

Re: MS or MTech in india
Both MS and Mtech have same recognition, but there are very few institutes that provide MS degree. MS is common in foreign countries like US. Mtech is common in most of the institutes. For Mtech it is neccessary to qualify GATE, as most of the institutes tak admission on the basis of GATE score.

Re: MS or MTech in india
MS is not that popular in india as M.Tech thats why taking admission in m.tech is much easier in comparison to MS, also number of colleges available providing MS as a course for study is quite less.

Re: MS or MTech in india
It depends on your career objective.
The Master of Science is a specialized degree in a particular field such as finance, chemistry, accounting, engineering, etc. But i would suggest you to go for the M.Tech ,it is completely atechnical line and will be more benificial in the futute if you have did B.Tech. |

Re: MS or MTech in india
Hi friend
MS course is offered by foreign university and few Indian universities like BITS pilani, You should choose M. Tech for getting high probability of admission in India. Admission is M.Tech course is done on the basis of GATE examination and few universities in india have their seperate test for that, like BITS , TIET patiala etc, Other follow GATE score. |

Re: MS or MTech in india
Hello,
MS is not so much popular in india, as very few colleges offers this degree. so you may go for M.Tech from any reputed colleges/universities through GATE and direct admission procedure. If you are thinking for M.S, then you must go for abroad like USA, Canada, etc. There are many five star colleges which offers this degree. Good luck!!! |
