if a student is applying for medical interance is it necessary to take paper 3 mathematics.

No there is no requirement of Mathematics for appearing in any medical entrance examination held for admission in undergraduate medical course such as MBBS and BDS.

For your information from last year only two medical entrance examination i.e; NEET and AIIMS MBBS entrance examination is being held for admission in all medical colleges across India. Also to appear in these examination you need to have completed your Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects with at least 50% marks ( in case of AIIMS MBBS examination, 60% ) from a recognized board. In each case 10% relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates.

Apart from educational requirement you need to have the nationality of India with your age lying within 17 years to 25 years by the 31st December of that year in which you will get admission in the first year of your undergraduate degree course.
