see,maximum number of seats available in IITs through GATE exam. and there is some few seats for the sponsored candidate. and there have some seat reserved for the technical college faculty. so if you have good schore in GATE then you can easily get chance in IITs. all the best.......... |

Dear,avability of seats in every college is different in different courses so it is better to check from the particular college's website because it will give you the exact information.

GATE Stands for GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST FOR ENGINEERING and this test is conducted for the candidates for Higher studies and For M.TECH degree in the renowned institutes of INDIA like IIT's.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR GATE IS: 1)You must have a bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) 2)If you are in the final year of the above degree then also you are eligible. 3)If you have a master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent 4)If you are in the final year of the above M.Tech degree then also you are eligible. 5)If you are in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology then also you are eligible. 6)If you are in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. 7)If you have obtained qualifications through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE . 8)Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. ->You have to bring the Downloaded admit card at the test center along with at least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification. ONLY One of the following photo identifications is permitted:

Every IIT has its specific seats reserved for GATE students for different courses.So you can check the same by visiting the website of that particular college for the particular course you are looking for the same.
But as a roughly idea you can better be know that in each department there are 4-5 specialization in the subjects concerned & if there are 8 to 10 departments then in each specialization there are 15-20 seats available for the students.The rest they will keep for the management Quota & reserved seats. |
