Re: Possibility to get admission in NITs or newly opened IITs with 40 marks in GATE?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is of 100 marks. If you are a general category candidate then you need to score more than 50 marks in GATE exam for getting admission in IITs and NITs. You need to participate in counselling process and it may be that you can get admission in NITs which are ranked low when number of candidates seeking admission in M.Tech in computer science is less.
OBC and SC/ST candidates with 35-40 marks have good chance of getting admission in NITs and IITs for Master of Technology. With this marks, OBC candidates can not get admission in top IITs. |

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering. As per my knowledge, you are not eligible to get admission in National Institute of Technology or Indian Institute of Technology with 40 marks in GATE. My suggestion to you is that you can apply for other government college for Computer Science stream rather than NIT or IIT which accept your Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering score.

There is no chance of getting admission in Master of Technology in NITs or IITs after scoring in 35-40 marks in GATE 2017 if you are from open category or OBC creamy layer.
SC/ST candidates can get admission in NITs and IITs after scoring 35-40 marks in GATE examination. |

With 35-40 marks in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, you can not get admission in any of NITs and IITs in Master of technology.
If we see last few year trends, minimum of 50 marks or more is required to get admission in NITs or IITs. |
