Any candidate who want to become a Income Tax Officer firstly apply for UPSC Exam.

Candidate who wish to become a Income Tax officer, should apply for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) conducted by UPSC every year.

The minimum qualification required for applying for CSE is graduation from a recognised University.

Candidate should have attained the age of 21 years but should not be more than 30 years.

There are Four attempts for General candidates who are eligible for this examination,no limit for SC/ST candidates, seven attempts for OBC candidates.

There is a preliminary examination through which candidates are shortlisted for the main exam.

Candidates who qualify the main exam are called for the personal interview. Based on the marks secured in the mains.

Then merit list is made, which determines the choice of service.

# After cracking Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC, candidate gets recruited in IAS/IPS/IRS cadre across the country.

# But it is not sure that the candidate may get Income Tax department or not.

# It is better to crack the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination for the post of Tax Assistant.

# Required educational qualification:

* 10+2+3 system of education from any recognised.
* Must have obtained minimum passing marks in the bachelor degree.
* Candidate with any stream or with any subject are eligible to apply.

# Minimum age prescibed for all categories is 18 years.

# However, maximum age prescribed differ from category to category which is well described below:

* 27 years for General category
* 30 years for OBC category
* 37 years for SC category
* 37 years for ST category

# Examination process is mainly divided into three stages mentioned below:

* Tier-I Examination
* Tier-II Examination
* Skill Test / Interview

# Tier-I Examination is of objective type and is sub-divided into followings:

* Quantitative Aptitude (50 Questions & 50 Marks)
* General English (50 Questions & 50 Marks)
* Reasoning Ability (50 Questions & 50 Marks)
* General Studies & Current Affairs (50 Questions & 50 Marks)

# Tier-II Examination is of objective type and is sub-divided into followings:

* Quantitative Aptitude (200 Questions & 200 Marks)
* General English (200 Questions & 200 Marks)
