Should one enter 21 years of age or complete 21 years of age for appearing in the Civil Services Exam? Since, the criteria demands 21 years, then in which context, please explain.

To be eligible to appear in Civil Services examination, you must have attained the minimum age of 21 years that means, you must have complete 21 years of age. The Civil Services examination is conducted by UPSC for recruitment of candidates to IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS services.

Eligibility criteria required to appear in Civil Services examination is mentioned below :-

=> You must be an Indian Citizen.

=> You must have obtained Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any stream from a Government recognised university.

=> The minimum age required to appear in Civil Services examination is 21 years and the maximum age is 32 years.

For reservation category candidates, there is an Upper age relaxation applicable to appear in Civil Services examination as mentioned below :-
-> OBC :- 3 Years
-> SC/ST :- 5 Years

=> You must be Physically as well as Mentally healthy.

Selection Procedure :-
1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Interview

You should have attained 21 years at least to appear for the Civil services examination or you can also appear after 21 years.Minimum age is 21 years and you should not exceed 30 years in order to appear for the Civil services.These civil services are conducted by the UPSC which is Union Public Services Commission.

Civil services are mainly conducted for
  • IAS (Indian Administration services)
  • IPS (Indian Police Services)

These are the civil services which are conducted by the UPSC board and you can appear for these civil services by satisfying the minimum requirements such as
  • You should have completed or done your Graduation or bachelors degree course of study
  • You Should have attained 21 years of age limit and should not exceed 30 years of age limit
  • You should belong to the Citizen of India only

These are the main requirements for the Civil services examination.
