i have 5830 state rank in aieee. i have all india rank about 176000....can i hope for a good engineering college according to my state rank??? lend me some suggestions......

Dear Friend

Three-four years back there used to be a separate value of state rank
because there were provision of defining separate quota for each state.
This provision was changed in such a manner that 50% of the seats
kept reserved for Home State (HS) candidates and the rest 50% of the
seats kept for All India (AI) quota.

The policy didn't change for HS category candidate but on All India basis
only AIR matters and not the State rank.

Therefore state rank is of no use nowadays.

Without any reservation/privilege you can't get a seat through AIEEE counseling
i.e. If you are a GEN category student then it is almost impossible to get a seat in
some AIEEE college.

If you participate in the counseling of state engineering entrances like
WBJEE, Orissa JEE, MHT-CET, Rajashthan, Punjab, Haryana, M.P. State
engineering entrances, on the basis of your AIEEE score then you can
get admission in a decent private college.
Visit the official website of these state engineering entrance exams asap
and get the details regarding this.

look my friend with your rank you a re not eligible for AIEEE counseling but there is a chance if you keep a track of all the state counseling because there is some provision for AIEEE ranks which students under a rank upto 200000 can try.
so try for those counseling and colleges under it.

This is quite difficult to answer this question because you have not mention your Category..
But If you are belonging to General category then no chance of getting any Govt College.
But if you are belonging to SC/ST category then may be you get.....
i think your marks is near about 60 and CBSE calling you for Counseling because 48 is cut off for General category.
But i will sure if you are belonging to General Category then you won't get any seat..However you should try for getting Good private college.

Ofcourse you will get good private colleges

dear friend

your state rank is of no use now a days . all the govt. as well a s private colleges take admission through AIR.

as your rank is too far the NITs and govt. colleges ,so you should apply for private colleges.

there are many good private colleges have been opening every year so you should go for those colleges .

you should attend their counseling and i hope you will get a good college.

some colleges like KIT, VIT take their own entrance exam for admission.

so you should apply for them as well.

The cut of marks of AIEEE vary year to year. this year 2011 the cut of marks in AIEEE is 48(for general category)
45(for OBC category)
15(for SC/ST and all PH category)
So, if your marks is above 48 then you will get chance to attend the counciling.
Your rank is not good so, there is a less probability to get chance in good colleges.

As your state rank is 520 and you are willing for government college in tamil nadu. You have 95% chances to get the government college in tamil nadu.

NIT Tripura, NIT Nagaland, NIT Assam and other NIT's in the north east or you may get NIT Raipur...

hey friend...
i don't think you will get admission on the basis of state rank(that depends on the state too;i'm talking about the top NIT's)...but nothing to panic,you will definitely get a good NIT on the basis of your all India rank.but,this will be achieved in later counselling rounds.SO!KEEP ATTENDING EACH AND EVERY ROUND OF COUNSELLING TILL THE LAST....YOU'LL BE DEFINITELY GETTING A GOOD COLLEGE....

From which state you belong? If you belong to tripura or north east states where new NIT opened then surely you will get NIT of that state.

the minimum rank that is required to take an admission into top 20 colleges should be from 1-7000.

there are 6 colleges in punjab that are under punjab university,chandigarh.

one of them is the regional center of the university.

the main and the top most college is PEC(punjab engineering college),chandigarh.

the minimun all india rank should be range from 1-7000 to take take the admission into NIT and IIT and top most colleges.

Hi

I am sorry to tell you that getting ANY course in ANY NIT is not possible with your rank and category.
NITs are the best colleges in India after IITs and BITS Pilani and thus are the most sought after by engineering aspirants. More than 11 lakh students appear for the entrance exam(AIEEE) for a seat in the NITs.
For the general category, the competition is even tougher because there are several reservations for the SC, ST and OBC categories which accounts for about half the seats in all NITs.
So for a general category candidate it is a must to obtain a rank of under 10000 to be sure about getting a seat in the NIT. For seats in the best NIT(Warangal, Trichy) in a core course(computer science, electrical and electronics, mechanical), the rank should be under 7000.
You should either take admission elsewhere or prepare for one more year and perform better in these competitives.
