About the AFCAT exam
Indian air force invites applications for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) from eligible candidates to follow a career in Indian Air Force. There are mainly three branches that a candidate can opt for: • Flying branch • Technical branch • Ground duty branches Basic Pattern of AFCAT The test consist of 100 questions and the time limit if 2 hours. Each question is of 3 marks. The total marks are 300. Sections in test 1- General awareness 2- English language 3- Numerical ability 4- Reasoning and military aptitude test Each of these objective questions will be provided with 4 options as answers. The candidate must select the correct one from the given option. Subjects covered and syllabus • Reasoning – Verbal skills and Spatial Ability • Verbal ability – Comprehension, error detection, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, vocabulary • General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defense, Art, Culture, Current affairs, Politics • Numerical ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, profit & loss, percentage, ratio & proportion and simple interest Study Material for AFCAT • Quantitative aptitude – R S Agarwal • Gk- Manorama, • AFCAT exam guide by RPH editorial board • Oswaal chapter wise solutions of bank P.O • Upkars State bank probationary officers examination by T.S Jain • Ramesh SBI and Associate bank PO exam Guide by RPH editorial board Important tips: • You need to practice a whole lot of solved papers that are available online and you can also buy solved papers from the market as well. • During the exam you need to solve the easy questions first so that you can find time to solve hard question later. • Try to keep your cool and keep a watch on the time. • If you are stuck up with a question, then leave the question and move on to the next one. But later, make sure that you are giving attempt to all the left out questions. • Try concentrating on the logics of concepts, rather memorizing the formulas and procedures. Develop your own methodologies to solve a problem. |
