Exam Pattern and Preparation Tips for AFCAT
Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) conducted by UPSC comprises of objective model questions only. Questions will be asked from sections like Military Aptitude, General Awareness, numerical ability and Reasoning. Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Error Detection, etc are some of the topics included in verbal ability section where as Average, Decimals, Fractions, etc are the topics included under numerical ability. Thorough preparation using news dailies, reference books, e-books, etc is required to clear the test.
Exam Pattern for AFCAT
There will be 100 questions for the test, carrying 3 marks each. Total time allotted for the completion of the test is three hours. Questions will be asked from the following subject areas.

Preparation Tips for AFCAT
Systematic preparation is necessary to clear AFCAT. Verbal ability and general awareness are much easy sections to score. Reading news dailies, noticing important pieces of information, searching informative websites are some of the methods to improve the general awareness of the candidate. All these processes are also good to improve your vocabulary and verbal ability. Reasoning and numerical ability sections can be cleared by constant practice of sample questions.
Mental calculations are enough to clear the section of numerical ability. Read and understand questions thoroughly, before starting to solve the same. Time management is essential to clear the section. Practicing previous year’s question papers by setting time limits and attending maximum number of mock tests will be helpful.
Reasoning section should also be cracked through constant practice of model questions. Reasoning and numerical ability are the two time-consuming sections and better time management is essential is make sure that too much time is not wasted for any particular question.
Exam preparations can be started after setting a proper time table. Follow the time table regularly and dedicate at least 2-3 hours daily for exam preparations. Reference books, completion guides, e-books, study materials collected from web, etc can be used for exam preparation. Immediate two days before the exam must be scheduled for revision and for attending mock tests. Face the exam with confidence and without fear or nervousness.
