To all those who are confused about second counselling, i am sorry to inform you that there are less chances of there being a second counselling as this year 20,000 people are called for counselling and it is expected that all the seats will be filled under 20,000 rank itself.
You may apply to other deemed universities such as SRM, Manipal for pursuing Btech or wait for the AIEEE results to get admission through your AIEEE rank. All the best

Firstly congratulations on your rank
you have a good chance of getting mechanical in VIT as the usual cut off ranges upto 8000 rank for mechanical in the vellore campus and the rank required for admission in chennai campus is much higher so more or less you are assured of getting mechanical in the Vellore campus itself.


It so happens that the top rankers either go for cse or eee branch, or do not turn up for the counselling if they are sure of getting through IITs or NITs which are better colleges than VIT.

Also a lot of people will opt for Bio related branches and have a rank above you so your actual rank is better than what you've mentioned and its surely enough to get mechanical. Good luck for the counselling

my rank is 18600. I m not going for first counclling on 19/05 because i have to appear for BITSAT on 21/05.
Can i go for second counclling later on.

As i have mentioned in the thread above, the chances of a second counselling are low as mostly all seats will be taken by the top 20000 students who will attend counselling in the first phase.

Getting computer science in the chennai camppus will be easier as compared to the vellore campus. But given your rank, you have a slight chance of making it since there are only 240 seats for computer science in Chennai campus.

Hi friend

There has been no official notification from the VIT university about any vacancy in their college as of now. Last week they had released an official notice on their site http://www.vit.ac.in/ with regard to vacancy for Biotechnology and biomedical engineering in Vellore campus. So if there are any vacant seats, the university will make an official statement on their site. Keep looking out on their site for the same. However, the chances of you getting a seat are low as you're rank is pretty high so i believe you should not have much hopes but also prepare yourself with a backup college incase you dont get VIT.

I am assuming that you did not attend the first phase of counselling. You will expect that a few seats will be vacated since few candidates who took provisional admission in first round might get a better college and forfeit their seat in VIT University. However, the truth is that the seats which are being vacated are being offered to students in the name of management quota(donation) from candidates who were not selected for the first phase of counselling.
If you are willing to join VIT University, i suggest you get in touch with them at the earliest on the phone and enquire about the admission procedure for you now. Also in the meantime you should consider an alternate university incase you dont get admission in VIT University

You will gt a rank of about 15000, which means u may just slither ur way through to vellore....but in chennai u will get sm gd branches .
