Are there any entrance exams conducted at state or national level for PhD?


Please confirm me whether there are any common entrance exam being conducted at either state level or national level for admission into PhD course in any universities?

Yes, firstly the universities prefer the candidate qualifying JRF. Secondly, CSIR UGC net qualified candidate is given preference (it is a national level exam for science and engineering background post graduate students CSIR-UGC net or UGC net for other disciplines). Then many state levels exam are also conducted in different states named as SET. Else the states which do not conduct SET conduct their individual common entrance test for the admission.
