I'm 37 years old M.Sc in Mathematics with B.Ed. I want to know the upper age limit for the post of Assistant Professor/Lectureship in various colleges all over India preferably in West Bengal.

Let me tell you that there is no upper age limit required to be eligible for the post of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.

Eligibility criteria are as follows:-
Candidate must be a degree holder of Master’s.
No upper age limit required.
Minimum age limit should be 21 years.
Candidate must have scored at least 50 percent in Master’s degree.

Look, there is no upper age limit required to apply for the post of Assistant Professor/Lecturer.

Eligibility criteria for Assistant Professor post are:-

Candidates must have completed master's degree with at least 55 percent marks.

Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories must have completed their master's degree with at least 50 percent marks.

Candidates age must be at least 21 years. Upper age limit is not required.

Well the eligibility criteria for the post of Assistant Professor/Lectureship vary from one college or university to another. Some of the institute takes till 50 years whereas there are a few which ask for till 40- 45 years. Many universities authorities offer relaxation of minimum five years in the upper age limit so as to recruit the efficient staff.

Since, you have mentioned that your age is 37 years, you may apply for Assistant professor in a college or university. But before that your B.ED degree is not sufficient to apply for the college/university level of teaching.

In order to apply for the teaching post in university/college you need to clear NET exam and for that there is no upper age limit.

First thing I would like to let you know that to be an assistant professor in any recognized university across India you need to qualify NET ( National Eligibility Test )/ SET ( State Eligibility Test ).

Further, for your information I would like to let you know that for appearing in NET/SET for recruitment as an assistant professor/lecturer there is no upper age limit.

To become a lecturer in college candidates have to appear for NET/SET examination.

The required minimum educational qualification to appear for entrance examination is that candidate must have master degree from a recognised university.

There is no upper age limit to appear for the examination. Candidate must have scored minimum 55% in master degree.

For recruitment in state government colleges, you can appear for SET.
