The age limitation for IIT-JEE is
25 years for GEN and OBC candidates on 1st October of the year in which JEE is conducted.
A relaxation of upto 5 years is given to candidates belonging to SC or SY or PD category/

(For IIT-JEE 2012 the allowed date of birth was 1st Oct 1987 or later and
for IIT-JEE 2011 the allowed date of birth was 1st Oct 1986 or later)

But there is one more criteria which if fulfilled age criteria is also fulfilled in most of the cases.

There are only two attempts allowed for IIT-JEE.
The first attempt can be practiced in the same year in which you appear 12th board exams.

The second attempt can be practiced in the immediate next year after first attempt.

Even if you miss the first attempt, you can take IIT-JEE in the immediate next year
but you can not apply for the same after that.
