Eligibility criteria for Indian forest service is as follows...


A candidate must be either:-
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

(ii) Age Limits:

(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable:-
up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.
up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
up to a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.
up to a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services Personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.

(iv) Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Forest Service Examination.

Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various All India Services including I.A.S., I.P.S., I.F.S.,I.R.S., and various Group A Services and Group B Services.

Normally applications are invited by UPSC notifications in leading News Papers during December every year.

The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages :

1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually conducted in May)

IFS stands for Indian Forest Service. To recruit officers in the Indian Forest Service the IFS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. In the management of the forests and wildlife of our country the IFS officers plays a crucial role no doubt.

If you are able to successfully crack this exam then for foundation training you will be sent to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy. For specialized training later you will be sent to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun.

For the interview session a maximum of 300 marks will be allotted. It is going to be like a cross examination aimed at knowing the candidate better. A good knowledge about incidents happening around you backed by good academic performance is required to crack this one.
