you have to write IFS exam. Selection for interview will be based on IFS exam marks. Extra criteria 1)Physical and mental fitness 2)your age in b/w 21-30 as per the year you are applying 3)If having Sports cota, it will be beneficial. |

Indian Forest Service (IFS) exams are conducted by UPSC.
Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification for IFS exam:For appearing in this exam candidate must be a graduate in any one of these subjects – Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry from any government recognized university. Age limit: The age of the candidate must be between 21 years to 30 years. Maximum 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Number of Attempts Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt. (iii) Minimum Educational Qualifications : The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possesses an equivalent qualification. Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various All India Services including I.A.S., I.P.S., I.F.S.,I.R.S., and various Group A Services and Group B Services. Normally applications are invited by UPSC notifications in leading News Papers during December every year. The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages : 1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually conducted in May) 2. Civil Services Main Examination (Written) (Conducted during October/November) 3. Interview and final Selection (During April/May) 1. Minimum Educational Qualification : Degree of any recognized university. However candidates studying in final year examination may apply for Preliminary. When he applies for Main Examination, he shall be a Graduate. But the following Engineering discipline are eligible :- * Civil Engineering, * Mechanical Engineering, * Bio Technology, * Electrical Engineering, * Physics * Chemistry * Statics * Geology etc. So you are very much eligible for I.F.S. in U.P.S.C. For this you have to prepare right now.Here I have also mentioned about the age limit and number of attempts of the examination. 2. Age Limit : * Minimum Age :- 21 as on 1st August during which they will write Exam. * Maximum Age: 30 for GEN, 33 for OBC and 35 for SC. 3. For specialized training later you will be sent to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun. To give this exam firstly you need to be a citizen of India. You can also get a bachelor's degree in engineering, agriculture or forestry or you can go for a have a bachelor's degree in medicine or surgery. Upper age limit for OBC Candidate is relaxed by thee years and of SC/ST candidates by five years. The written exam consists of compulsory papers and optional papers. General English and General Knowledge are the two compulsory papers of 300 marks each. There is four optional papers of 200 marks each. You need to choose two subjects for two papers each. There will be a list of fourteen subjects to choose from. For the interview session a maximum of 300 marks will be allotted. It is going to be like a cross examination aimed at knowing the candidate better.
