Indian Forest Examination is also controlled by the Union Public Service Commission. UPSC looks after the entire recruitment process, right from the written test till the final interview. A student is selected only if his performance is satisfactory in the written test as well as in the interview.

A student can opt for Physics as their entrance subject if they have a strong hold over Physics or if they have a bachelor’s degree in Physics. Other students will have to put into extra efforts if they choose Physics for this entrance exam.

Eligibility criteria for appearing in this entrance exam:

A student should have a Bachelors degree for appearing in this exam. A student can give it maximum for 4 times, however SC/ST is exception for the no. of attempts. Physical standard is also important in this paper. Also, the paper is only for the Indian citizen. UPSC rules for number of attempts are very strict.

Mode of the examination:

Physics paper contains questions from particle dynamics, system of particles, rigid body dynamics, special relativity, geometrical optics, polarisation etc. There are 8 questions in the paper and are divided equally into 2 sections i.e. 4 questions in each section. 1st and 5th questions are compulsory and rest 3 questions are to be answered choosing atleast 1 question from each section. There is no negative marking and there are both numerical and subjective questions.

Tips for the paper:

Students should have a good knowledge of the syllabus. Paper will also fetch good marks if properly labelled diagram and charts are given in the answers. Mock test session and previous year’s papers are required to be solved regularly before the exam.

Total time and marks allotted:

Maximum marks in the paper which can be scored are 200 and time duration is 3 hours only.
