What are the minimum educational requirement for becoming a college Professor?
I have completed my graduation with Science subjects and scored 49%. And, my Post Graduation in History scoring 58%. Am I eligible for UGC-NET exam and became a college Professor?

Having completed your Post graduation degree in History with 58% marks you are certainly eligible for UGC NET ( National Eligibility Test ) held by CBSE as for appearing in the same examination for becoming an assistant professor, all that is required is a master's degree in the concerned subject with 55% marks from a recognized university. Marks relaxation of 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST and PH category.

The eligible to become college professor is that candidate must have passed master degree and qualified in NET.
NET examination is conducted by CBSE under the guidelines of UGC. The eligibility to appear in examination is that candidate must have passed master degree from a recognised university with minimum 55%. There is no age limit to appear in examination. So, you are eligible to appear in examination for selection as Professor of History. |

The acronym UGC NET is University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test.
Eligibility criteria for UGC NET is: Academic qualification: Master's degree in any stream from a recognized university. Minimum percentage of 55% is required to apply for UGC NET exam. There is no upper age limit for lectureship and it is 28 years for JRF. You can apply for UGC NET exam after having 58% marks in PG course. |

Most Institutions of Higher Education required professors have a minimum of Doctoral degree in an academic field of study and a doctoral degree required 3 years of study or more beyond the Master's degree level. Community colleges and career training centres may hire a professor with a Master's Degree. Some universities require professors to have completed education course work. Moreover the candidate has to qualify the National Eligibility Test.

To become a professor in any recognized college, you are required to qualify NET/SET/SLET examinations and for appearing in these examinations the minimum education required is a master's degree in any discipline with 55% marks ( or 50% marks in case of SC/ST or PH category candidates ) from a recognized university.

Let me tell you that after completing Post-Graduation you will be eligible to write UGC-NET entrance exam.
Minimum qualification required to become a lecturer is Post-Graduation degree with a minimum 50% aggregate. |

The minimum educational qualification required to become a lecturer in college relevant your field is that the candidate must have completed Master's degree from a recognised University. The candidate has to qualify the National Eligibility Test in order to apply for the post of lecturer.

To become a professor in Government College, you need to appear in the National Eligibility Test( NET) which is conducted by the University Grants Commission. Eligibility:- The applicant should have minimum 55% marks in master's degree from University organised by UGC. Age limit:- No age bar. |

Yes you are eligible to appear in examination. The eligibility to appear in examination is that candidate must have passed aster degree with minimum 55%.
So, you can appear in examination and after qualifying in examination will become eligible for final selection. There is no age limit to appear in examination. |

NET(National Eligibility Test) is conducted by CBSE(Central Board of Secondary Education) on behalf of UGC(University Grants Commission) for recruitment of Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Indian universities and colleges.
Eligibility to appear in NET is to possess a postgraduate degree in any stream from any recognised university with more than 50% marks without rounding off. Also, students are adviced to appear in subject of their post-graduation only. NET is conducted twice in a year. |
