GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. IIT or IISC conducts this exam every year for M.Tech courses. GATE score is also accepted by many PSUs for recruitment purposes.

Minimum of 50% in GATE exam is necessary for doing Master's degree in Technology from Aligarh Muslim University. AMU also conducts its own entrance exam for M.Tech admissions. There are total 211 seats in M.Tech course in different disciplines.

The application fee is Rs 300 and for Nanotechnology candidate must have 60% or more in bachelor's degree in technology.
