IPS : Indian Police Service.

This is one of the prestigious Civil Service of India Which is mainly known for its Order harmony and Power..

Every daring Indian aspire to become an IPS officer but only a few materialize their desire into reality.

Coming to procedure right from your completion of Intermediate is as follows. It might not be exactly the same with every one but mostly it looks like a road map to reach the target of IPS.

Even you have said you're pursuing BCA degree I'm providing you right from the Intermediate so that it will be help full for you and to suggest to a few who are confused like you around this society.

After completing Intermediate from any stream it may be like MPC,BiPC or CEC,HEC,MEC,CEC, etc.,

you will have to select a degree course of your choice. It may depend on your background in Intermediate and also may depend on your interest.
I'm saying like this because there will be no problem to you in future with the degree what you have done earlier.

As the required educational qualification for this exam is a degree of any stream not particular with subject or Percentage. Only the degree done by you should be of a Recognized Indian University.and your age should be 21 years .

I forgot to tell you one thing that IPS exam is not conducted separately only for IPS posts. The Civil Service exam is the common exam conducted for various services in those services IPS is also one.

after completing degree you have to apply for Civil Service exam which will be conducted by UPSC for posts like IAS,IPS,IFS etc.,

Civil Service exam is a three stage pattern with different syllabus for each category.
the three stages are

->CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude test)

->MAINS examination

->Personal Interview.

All these stages are the process under selection and filtering process of unwanted candidates and better to say unwanted brains.

After clearing all the above mentioned stages you will get combined result in the form of ranks with marks . Based on that ranks you will get selected in to the desired service if available for your rank and cadre according to the authorities choice.

That's all you will become IPS officer if you complete all this process.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Educational Qualifications for IPS :
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs.

Number of Attempts
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.

Physical fitness criteria for IPS-
Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

Eye sight – 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.

BCA student are eligible for IPS exam.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candiadte is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candiadte is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.

The IPS selection process is consist in three way

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Interview.
