If you are a graduate then you are eligible for this post. Also your age should not be less than 21 years and should not exceed 30 years. If you do satisfy this criteria then you can appear for the civil service exam. You need to prepare for the 3 phases of the this test. To begin with the CSAT. If you clear this exam then you will be eligible for final and then you will called for interview round. You can check the details in the UPSC site.

Dear friend,

You have to write the civil services exam in order to get in to IAS.

this exam is conducted by the upsc once a year.

you have to appear in the following papers to qualify this exam:

PRELIMINARY:

two papers:
paper-1(general studies)
paper-2(aptitude test)

MAINS9 papers)

general studies(paper1 and paper 2)
optional subject-1(paper1 and paper 2)
optional subject-2(paper1 and paper 2)
essay
language paper(qualifying nature)
english paper(qualifying nature)

after mains you have to appear in the personality test.
after mains you have to appear in the personality test.If you perform well in the personality test you may find place in the final list.

a)AGE:
general category:21 to 30 years
obc:21 to 33 years
sc/st:21 to 35 years.

A candidate must have attained 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on 1 august in the year of examination
the upper age is relaxable to a maximum of three years for OBC candidates and a maximum of five years for the sc/st candidates etc..

b)QUALIFICATION:
the candidate must hold a degree of any of universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures of india or declared to be deemed as university under section 3 of the UGC act 1956.

c)NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS:
general categort:4 attempts
obc: 7 attempts
sc/st: unlimited attempts.

you have to work very very hard from the day you satrted your preparation.so no shortcuts.work hard no other option is available.

unlike other exams it requires daily study and consistency in efforts.

you start the preparartion with the basic books like ncert.once your basic concepts are clear then you can go the high level books.

you should allocate sufficient time for preparation and dont rush through the syllabus.

if you are preparing for the civil services then you should start your preparation as early as possible.

all the best
