Re: What should be the best to take in 11th standard to become an IAS officer?
Dear Friend,
you must note that in order to become an IAS officer you just need to have complete your Graduations in any of the Field,So there is no particular field. You must go on with the field for which you are interested in and just complete your graduations even if it is Science or may be its Commerce and Arts. Mostly graduations will help you in a two way as that to join the IAS Examinations as well as to do the job in future. Note that as the subjects which we feel interested is always easy for us and also you just need to complete your graduations so try to go with the interested one only but not by the choices of others opinion. |

Re: What should be the best to take in 11th standard to become an IAS officer?
There is no particular subject or course that will give you edge when applying for the Indian Administrative Service. Therefore you should select subjects that you find interesting.
First you will have to complete 12th with any subjects you like than depending on those subjects you must complete graduation. Once again you can complete graduation in any stream. None will carry any disadvantage or advantage. You simply have to give yourself enough time to prepare. Generally 6 to 8 months are considered sufficient enough to prepare for the Indian Administrative Service. You should read the NCERT books for Class 12th to prepare for the exam. You can also download sample papers from internet and try to solve them. It is a very good way to identify your weakness. This will help you put extra effort in areas where you are lacking behind. Eligibility 1. Nationality: For IAS exam you should be Indian national. 2. Education: Graduation degree is the qualfying course. 3. Marks: There is no mininum marks requirement in graduation course. 4. Age Limit: Anyone above 21 years and less than 30 years is eligible. 5. Relaxation: 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST in upper age limit. Selection Procedure 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam 3. Interview The preliminary is conducted in May and those who manages to pass it are called for Main exam which is conducted in August. |

Re: What should be the best to take in 11th standard to become an IAS officer?
Hello Friend ,
Firstly, let me tell you that you do not have to study specific subject in order to sit for an IAS officer exam , all you need to have following basic criteria in order to be eligible to sit in an IAS exam conducted by UPSC every year to recruit many peoples for the various post under Indian State . So here are the basic Eligibility criteria that you should be having : 1) Nationality: For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. 2) Educational Qualification: * * The candidate must hold any degree in any discipline from any recongnized university . * * Final year degree students who will obtain degree by August 1, 2013 are also eligible for CSAT . The degree can be of any class (distinction, first, second etc.) * * Degree obtained by distance education/open university is also eligible if the university is a recognized university. 3) Age limit for IAS exams : * * Generals : The candidates age limits should be in between 21 years to 30 years. * * 3 years upper age relaxation for OBC candidates. * * 5years upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidates. 4) Number of attempts permitted: * * General Category: 4. * * OBC: 7. * * Physically Handicapped: 7. * * SC & ST : No limit on number of attempts. 5) Selection procedure:- * * Preliminary Examination, * * Mains Examination, * * Personal Interview. Re: What should be the best to take in 11th standard to become an IAS officer?
You can opt for those subjects in which you are interested in 10+2 because these subjects don't matter if you are applying for IAS Examination.
The basic qualification required for IAS Examination is Graduation in any discipline. So it doesn't matter what subjects you have studied in your 10+2. But in terms of preparation your 10+2 subjects will play a important role in IAS examination. The weightage of General Studies has increased from this year in Civil Services Examination. Hence if you opt for those stream which matches with the Civil Services latest syllabus then it will be good for your preparation. The age required for IAS Examination is 21 to 30 years for General Category and other category get age age relaxation according to the rules. The selection will be based in the following stages: -Preliminary Exam -Mains Exam -Interview Those who score in merit will get selected as IAS Officer. The number of attempts are limited for General and OBC category but for SC/ST category there is no limit in attempts. For more information visit http://www.upsc.gov.in |
