every institution is having its own number of seats in various streams. the actual number of seats are disclosed at the time of counselling. but in average, all nit & iit have atleast 60 seats in each stream. i.e. 60 for mechanical, 60 for electrical etc. but you must first try to crack the exam. if you clear the exam exam then you will be automatically shown the number of seats institutionwise at the time of counselling

Well dear cant say about institute wise seats but statics are a follows:-

15 IITs, ISM Dhanabad, IT – BHU = 8,384 (Admission based on IITJEE to its B.Tech)
20 National insitutes of Technology = 13,248 (Admission is based on AIEEE for its B.Tech/B.Arch seats)
5 IIITs, IIITDM = 698 (Admission is based on AIEEE to its B.Tech courses)

Apart from that hundreds of other private, Self Financed, Deemed institutes also except IITJEE and AIEEE ranks

hey every year the institute wise seats are displayed in the respective entrance websites so you don't really have t worry about it . just go on preparing and check out the site. if you don't get it there then you can switch to "Exam Today" monthly magazine for your queries.

i think no one can tell you the total no. of seats,
estimate can say that here 10,000+ seats in IIt nd NET.

Total number of seats in IITs is around 7000 exculuding EMl and in NITs is around 12000 which is of 2011.

in iit take about 7000 seats in engineering
and in nit's about 30,000-40,000 seats
which are valuable....

Friend total 15 IIT institutes in india. The total no. of seat in IIT is 8384.
Where as total 20 NIT institutes in india. The total no. of sit in NIT is about 13248.IIT taken admission from IITJEE exam where as in NIT from AIEEE exam. For more information you can see the official website of IIT and AIEEE.
