NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conduct twice time in year by UGC.This test will be conduct for only lectureship , PHD and JRF .

If you have completed masters degree from recognized university then you are eligible for NET exam but their is also some marks criteria.

For general and OBC candidate must be hold 55% above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate must be hold 50% above in masters degree.

There is a age criteria for Junior Research Fellowship .Your age should be below 28 years old. Age relaxation unto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PWD / OBC .For the post of Lectureship , There is no upper age limit .

Other Backward Classes Rs.225/-
SC/ST/PWD candidates Rs.110/-

National Eligibility Test is going to be conducted in December as you have also pointed out correctly. Its 3-4 months away therefore do not expect any notification from the University Grants Commission anytime soon.

The registration procedure will only start once the University Grants Commission has issued a notification on its official website. The notification mentions all the important dates including the date from which registration will begin and end.

The registration is done only via online. You will have to visit the official website of UGC NET to register for the National Eligibility Test.

As mentioned earlier that National Eligibility Test is 3-4 months away. The notification will be released either in October or November. Do not expect is anytime before that. You should start visiting the official website of UGC NET from October onwards to see whether University Grants Commission has issued the notification.

However if you are eligible for the exam, then do not just sit around instead start the preparations for the National Eligibility Test. Please remember that National Eligibility Test is not going to be easy to crack. Please check the criteria below to see whether you are eligible for the exam or not.


NET Eligibility

1. Nationality: It should be Indian.

2. Education: Any post graduation course from UGC recognized college.

3. Marks: You must have scored 55 percent marks in post graduation.

4. Relaxation: Up to 5% for SC and ST.

5. There isn't any relaxation for OBC.

6. Final year students can also apply. You don't have to wait till completing PG.

7. However such students should submit degree in 2 years.

8. To appear for exam in "English" subject, you must have completed post graduation in it.

9. To apply for JRF you should be less than 28 years old.

10. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

11. SC/ST can apply for JRF up to 33 years.

12. There is no upper age limit for lectureship.
