when is the next mah set exam to be held ?....please tell me the details

State Eligibility Test for Lectureship also known as SET/SLET is the exam conducted for lectureship and PhD in the particular state. Each state conducts its own SET exam therefore Maharashtra is no exception.


The SET exam is taken by the post graduates who want lecturer job in the government colleges. If you pass the Maharashtra SET exam, you would be eligible for lecturer job in the state government colleges.


However one should always remember that SET exam is not easy to crack and would require a lot of study. You should take mock tests and even download previous year's question papers and solve them. This would help you understand the weak areas.



Eligibility

1. Post graduation degree in any stream in required.

2. You must have completed post graduation from a UGC recognized university.

3. Minimum of 55 percent marks are necessary to appear for SET.

4. SC/ST candidates need 50 percent marks.

5. Final year students can also apply but must submit their PG degree within 2 years of passing Maharashtra SET.

6. The age limit for Junior Research Fellowship is 28 years.

7. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship.

8. No limit on number of attempts for lectureship.



Dates

There seems to be confusion regarding the dates of next Maharashtra SET exam. The SET exam is conducted in August and November 2012 by the University of Pune in Maharashtra and Goa. However for some reason August SET exam did not took place. As for now there is no news whether the dates of August exam would be changed or UGC will go ahead with November exam.
