Whether a candidate is eligible to choose subjects after 10th?

Hello, I want to know that can my daughter select subjects after 10th? She has been asked to drop Maths & Science and go for Environmental Science & Commercial studies. Can she opt for subjects which will help her to choose Engineering or Medical after 12th?

Yes, All the students have hole Authority to choose their desired subjects and nobody can force them for choosing any specific subject or a group of subject.

However their are certain criteria of marks for each stream you should have to qualify the criteria for taking admission in that particular stream.

Comparatively science stream needs higher marks for admission for 10+2.

No, your daughter can’t choose subjects after completion of 10th standard, but she can choose the stream of her interest. For example, Intermediate Science/ Commerce/ Arts stream. She can choose any stream of her interest, but she can’t choose subjects in the stream as there will be fixed subjects in each stream. Based on her career aspiration, she can choose any stream for pursuing her higher studies.

As per the education council of India, she cannot change her subjects from environmental science and commercial studies to science and maths.

If you want to do so, then she would need to reapeat her previous class to clear her basics in maths and science.

Moreover, if you change her subjects now, that will create a problem for her to work on these subjects. She may also fail in her 10+2 as maths and science needs string foundation to have a better carreer .
