Hello sir or mam, I am a student of CA-FINAL. and I want to become an income tax commissioner but have no idea about it.. Can you please tell me the procedure..

If you are a graduate below the age of 30 years, then firstly you have to apply for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to become an income Tax Commissioner.

In other words, SSC is authorised body responsible for conducting SSC CGL exam for recruitment of the Income Tax Commissioner because the department of Income Tax falls under the Central Government of India.

The minimum education requirements to be recruited as Grade C and B inspectors is to be a graduate in any discipline.

If you want to become an Income Tax officer after 12th, you will have to complete an undergraduate degree and then qualify the SSC CGL exam or the UPSC exam for Indian Revenue Services.

There are two main routes to become an income tax officer India that is SSC CGL examination or UPSC examination.
SSC CGL exam is the main recruitment exam for grade c and B inspectors for the department of income tax which comes under the central government.

The minimum educational qualification required to appear in both the examinations is graduation in any discipline from a recognised university or Institute of India.

The minimum age limit of the candidate is 18 years and the maximum is 27 years to appear in SSC CGL examination and relaxation in a limit is provided to reserved category students.

You can also become an income tax commissioner through civil services examination that is conducted by UPSC and for that you have to opt for Indian revenue services.

Procedure to become an Income Tax Commissioner:-

You can be Income Tax Commissioner through Civil Service exam. UPSC organise the Civil Service exam for the post of IRS ( Indian Revenue Service ). Through this exam you can be a income tax officer.

Essential qualification required for the exam:-

You should be pass in the graduation.
The final year students are also eligible.


Age limit:-

The age limit for the exam is 18 to 27 years.
The age limit for the OBC is 18 to 30 and age limit for SC/ ST is 18 to 32.

Civil services has three phase and you have to clear all the phase.
Prelims
Mains
Interview.

Candidates will be short listed on the basis of main exam score and then final selection will be done on the basis of personal interview.
