You can be Income Tax Commissioner through Civil Service Exam. UPSC organizes the Civil Service Exam for the post of IRS (Indian Revenue Service). Through this exam you can be a income tax officer.

Essential Qualification required for the exam:

-> You should be pass in the graduation.
-> The Final Year Students are also eligible.

Age:

-> The age limit for the exam in 18 to 27. The age limit for the OBC is 18 to 30 and age limit for SC/ST is 18 to 32.

Civil Services has three phase and you have to clear all the phase:

1. Prelims(CSAT)
2. Mains
3. Interview
Scheme and subjects for the Preliminary and Main Examinations

A) Preliminary Examination
The Examination shall comprise two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.

B) Main Examination

The written examination will consist of the following papers:

• Paper – I : Essay, English Comprehension and English Precis Writing
• Paper –II : General studies ( Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)
• Paper III : General Studies (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)
• Paper IV : General Studies (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security
• and Disaster Management)
• Paper-V : General Studies (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)
• Paper-VI and VII optional subject

Candidate will be shortlisted on the basis of main exam score and then final selection will be done on the basis of personal interview.
