Hey friend,

STEP TO BECOME IAS OFFICER:

First of all it is a good step for you to choose on becoming a IAS officer to do service to the country. IAS is one of the Indian Civil Service post and it stands for Indian Administrative Service and for joining in as a IAS officer you would need to write the IAS Exam which is being conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission)

To write this exam there are certain eligibility conditions which you would be needed to satisfy and they are:

Nationality:

# The candidate need to have a Citizenship in India

Age Limit:

# The age limit needed for the exam is that the candidate must have 21-30 years and there are certain relaxation allowed.

# For SC/ST it is 21-35 years

# For OBC it is 21-33 years

# For Ex-service men they get 5 years exception from the prescribed limits.

Education qualification:

# The education qualification states that the candidate must have completed a Degree from a recognized university with a fair percentage and that can be from any stream.

If you tend to satisfy all these criteria for the exam then you can apply for the IAS exam and that can be done in 2 ways:
  1. ONLINE
  2. OFFLINE

If you have more doubt regarding the exam check at the official site of UPSC at http://www.upsc.gov.in

-The no. of attempts for the exam is 4 times for general category under the creamy layer,7 times for OBC candidates and no limits for SC/ST candidates.

-The exam process is conducted in three phases:

* CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) in May/June.
