Dear sir, I have got 50% marks in master degree and normally 55% aggregate marks is required as per UGC guideline. I want to know marks required in master degree to do PhD from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu?

I am very sorry to say that you cannot apply for Ph.D course after scoring only 50% of marks in Masters degree course.
Candidates those who have completed their Masters degree course in the relevant field from a recognised University with a minimum of 55% of marks in it are eligible to apply for the Ph.D course in the respective field.

For Ph.D one must have at least 55% marks in the post graduation and it is same for every UGC recognized university in India. There is relaxation of 5% marks, if you belong to reserved category.

Admission is based on merit and most of the universities conduct entrance exam and interview for admission.

Marks required in master degree to do a PhD from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu is 50%. The eligibility to do a PhD in Madurai Kamaraj University is a Master’s Degree of Madurai Kamaraj University or of any other university recognized by Madurai Kamaraj University as equivalent thereto in the relevant discipline with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate in Master’s Degree. The candidates shall be selected through an entrance test, followed by an interview conducted by the university. Madurai kamaraj University is a public university and is situated in Tamil Nadu. There are lots of PhD programmes offered in this university. Candidates who have completed their master's degree with minimum 50% marks from a recognized university are eligible to apply for PhD course in this university.

Now the candidates have to appear for an entrance examination conducted by the institute itself. The admission will depend upon the marks secured in the examination followed by personal interview.

You should have scored a minimum of 55% in aggregate in your masters degree in order to be eligible for admission in PhD course from a recognized board, however it is advisable to try and score as good as possible in order to increase your chances of admission in top level colleges.
