Should I have t appear in UGC-NET to pursue PhD(Music) being an MA(Music) student?

Hello everyone, I am doing MA in Music. After completing my Post Graduation, I want to do PhD in Music. I would like to know that I have to appear in UGC-NET for doing PhD in this specialization? Please let me know immediately.

You don't need to appear in UGC-NET to pursue PhD(Music) being an MA(Music) student. You are eligible to pursue PhD(Music) without appearing in UGC-NET. You are required to appear in entrance test and a personal interview conducted by the respective university to get admission in PhD(Music). You must have passed masters degree in relevant subject with at least 55% marks (5% relaxations for SC/ST candidates) from any recognized university to be eligible to study PhD. Candidates with qualified in UGC NET/ GATE, CSIR, Teacher Fellowship or M.Phil degree holder are exempted from the entrance test. Such candidate are required to directly appear for interview.
