Most of the government job are available through competitive exam and your graduation marks are not counted for selection. You need only 50% marks to become eligible for most of the government job exams.
For income tax posts you have to apply for SSC CGL exam which is conducted by staff selection commission and you need graduation in any discipline from a recognized university to become eligible for it. |

Re: How much percentage required in graduation for getting a good job in Income tax?
Generally to be eligible for applying for Income Tax Department jobs, the basic educational qualification required is "Graduate Degree" or any Bachelor Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. As far as my best knowledge is concerned, there is NO certain minimum percentage is required in order to be eligible for applying for Income Tax Department jobs. For instance, to become Income Tax officer or Inspector in Income Tax Department, you are required to write CGL (Combined Graduate Level) Examination which is conducted by Staff Selection Commission. So the basic eligibility criteria you are required to meet in order to be eligible is, "Graduate Degree" or Bachelor Degree PASS from a recognized university and there is no minimum percentage is required. But to be in safe side, the minimum percentage required in Graduation is "60% marks" or above. No, the entire selection of a candidate to get job in Income Tax department basically depends on the marks secured him/ her in the CGL Examination Selection process, i.e., marks secured in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Interview combined together. Hence, Graduation marks are not taken into consideration to get post in Income Tax Department.

Minimum qualification required to apply for this examination is completing a degree course from a recognized Institution. This exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree to become a income tax officer exam. Your age should be in between 21 to 27 years. Age relaxation- Upper age relaxation for OBC is upto 3 years. For SC/ ST , it is upto 5 years. For PWD it is upto 10 years. |
