Hello everyone, I am preparing for GATE. I have completed my BTech course in this year. I want to get admission for MTech course. I have heard that in GATE counselling there would be an interview for the admission. Is it true?

Yes, Interview round is conducted during GATE counseling. This interview panel will consist of 3-4 professors and every professor will ask questions one by one. Interviewers are more interested in Data Structures, Algorithms and mostly from Mathematics. Interviewers judge candidates by asking technical and personal questions. The mainly mathematics topics which they ask are given below.

Matrix Analysis and Linear Algebra
Transform Theory ( Z-Transform, fourier transform)
Discrete Mathematics (Graphs and Combinatorics)
Real Analysis and Differential Equations
Probability Theory

Some interviewers will dig deep into your final year project so be prepared for all your backgrounds subjects.
