Obstacles are not common in everyone's life. SO there are no general obstacles which needs to be faced in order to become a Software Engineer. You need to be good at analysis, be keen to learn and need to work hard as the work pressure is quite high in software industry.

You should be good at programming and learning. There are certain technologies wherein developer needs to have a analytical and logical bent of mind while there are certain sectors like testing where following the designed process is of high importance. Hence it depends on your caliber and your attitude which will lead you to a successful or unsuccessful Software Engineer.
