This consists of the major areas including a brief introduction to first aid, requirements, controlling blood loss, first aid in road accidents, burns & shock, fractures, drowning, poisoning, electrocution, unconscious individuals, CPR. Also includes the emergency assistance in the above situations. Disaster management in fire, earthquakes, drought, bomb blasts, floods; Medical and surgical emergencies, safety aspects are a part of the syllabus.

Pattern: It consists of 7 questions. All are subjective type and all questions are compulsory. Allotment of marks is random and is not fixed. The questions are sub-divided.

Time allotted and Marks: Duration of exam is 3 hours and maximum marks allotted are 60. Candidates will be given 15 minutes before the commencement of exam to read the question paper. They should not write during this time.

Key points: Concentration should be mainly focused on definitions and treatments. Questions will be given from each topic and all the topics will be covered. Writing the answers in a point-wise manner would be more convincing. Some of the questions will be repeated from the earlier papers. Go through the former papers.
