Cochin University Marine Engineering 8th Sem Marine Machinery System Design Papers are designed to provide a thorough grounding to the student in Marine Machinery System Design with topics including the basic design considerations for casting, the meaning of terms like ‘fits and tolerance’ and ‘surface finish’, the different methods for manufacturing components, the basic design considerations for forging, manufacturing of various parts of an IC engine, explanation in details, and with diagrams, of the Fuel Injection System of a marine machinery system, short notes on critical concepts like refrigeration plant or bulk carbon dioxide system, design considerations of the main engine air of the marine machinery system, detailed diagrams of typical lubrication systems and so on. The questions are of the long answer type with diagrams forming an important chunk of the question paper. Altogether there are 10 questions and you have to answer any 5 by taking one from pair of questions like 1st and 2nd and so on. The student must prepare for the same if he or she wishes to score high marks.
