Mangalore University Arts - Economics Semester 5- Economic Thought Papers are aimed at testing the student’s foundations in the theoretical aspects of economics. Questions of the long answer and comprehensive type can be expected from topics like the contributions of Adam Smith to economic thought, Jevon’s views on the Theories of Consumption, Value and Trade Cycle, Marshall’s Theory of Consumption and Theory of Value, the Keynesian Theory of Development and so on. Other possible topics from which exhaustive questions can be posed include the population theory of T.R. Malthus, Marxian Theory of Surplus Value, A.C. Pigou’s views on Theory of Employment, the views of Joan Robinson on Theory of Imperfect competition and so on. This paper is not too high scoring as the questions asked require key conceptual understanding of the emergence of the various theories of economics, and how the subject itself formed a discipline.
